Debi and Dana were introduced in 2007 while each building their own food manufacturing companies. They immediately bonded over a number of striking similarities, as well as their passion for the food industry, love of design, and unwavering need for excellent coffee. 

DS2 Real Estate is named for their initials.

Debi Sommars approaches the art of commercial real estate the way a great chef approaches the creation of an epic meal, by bringing all of her experience, imagination and creativity to the task.  As owner, founder and developer of a successful organic food company, she possesses an insider’s knowledge of the retail food and hospitality world.  Her impressive track record of negotiating successful business partnerships between high-end retail, hotel and restaurant clients, and the very best established and rising new chefs, puts her in the top of her field.

Debi attended Cal State University at Long Beach where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance.  She is a member of the Portland Commercial Association of Realtors, the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Metropolitan Club of San Francisco. She is licensed as a principal sales agent in Oregon and California. 

An enthusiastic supporter of the arts, Debi served as a Trustee of the Laguna Art Museum/Orange County Museum of Art and she continues to promote various cultural institutions that emphasize education and access to art.  She also enjoys biking, paddle-boarding and yoga, although she has not yet come up with a way to do all three at once. But give her time; she just might.

Dana brings an extensive background in marketing and entrepreneurship to the firm. Prior to commercial real estate, she has held marketing and sales positions in both for and non-profit organizations - from small legal and consulting firms to Merrill Lynch, Nike and the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Foundation.

Dana has also founded and run two of her own food companies:  Sift Bakery, a wholesale gluten-free cookie manufacturer (sold in 2009) and Dana’s Healthy Home, an internet retailer specializing in gluten-free natural foods.

Dana attended the University of Puget Sound and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in International Political Economy, as well as minors in Economics, Environmental Studies, and Latin American Studies.  She later earned her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Portland. Dana was an elite collegiate distance runner, winning national titles in track and cross country, competing for the US national team at the World Cross Country Championships, and earning a postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA. 

When Dana is not working, you can find her enjoying the outdoors (especially running through Forest Park), traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
